Largest Labor Groups Solidly Behind Diaz-Balart

Miami, Florida- The Mario Diaz-Balart for Congress Campaign today announced the endorsements of South Florida AFL-CIO, Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 291, AFSCME’s Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer, Miami-Dade County Aviation, and Miami-Dade County General Employees. Together, these unions represent over 700,000 workers throughout Southern Florida.

Jeffery Mitchell, President of South AFL-CIO, said of Congressman Diaz-Balart: “You have worked gallantly and tirelessly over the years to better the lives of the citizenry you represent, and your efforts over time have indeed made a difference. Clarence Washington, President of Transport Workers Union (TWU) said: “You have worked gallantly and tirelessly over the years to better the lives of the citizenry you represent, and, in the transportation arena in particular, your efforts over time to improve this critical public service has indeed made a difference.”

Miguel Aragon, Business Manager of Laborers’ International Union of North America, stated: “We appreciate your dedication to issues that affect working families throughout the country including fair wages and benefits through your support of the Davis-Bacon Act and project labor agreements applying to federal projects.  Your unwavering support of infrastructure investment is greatly appreciated as well as your support for many other issues affecting our members.”
